Netanyahu believes it is useful to strengthen coordination between Israeli, Russian military

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls for further strengthening of the mechanism of coordination between the Israeli and Russian military in regard to the situation in Syria.

"Our coordination mechanism has already proven itself. We would both benefit from strengthening it further," Netanyahu told Interfax in an interview before his official visit devoted to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which begins on Monday.

"Russia is an important player on the international scene, and Israel is an important regional player. President Putin and I understand the value of relations between our two countries, which have grown stronger for the past 25 years. Our relations promoted the broadening of Russian-Israeli cooperation, and I hope this visit will give an additional impetus," Netanyahu said.
