Ceasefire regime in Syria breached 5 times in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The ceasefire regime was breached five times in Syria's province of Damascus in the past 24 hours, the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria said.

"Formations of the Jaysh al-Islam group, identifying itself as opposition, fired multiple rocket launchers and mortars on the positions of the Syrian Armed Forces in the populated localities of Ayn Terma, Jaur al-Basha and Mazraat-Mahmoud and, twice, the town of Harasta," the center said in a report posted on the Russian Defense Ministry's website on Monday.

All the five breaches of the truce were observed in the Damascus province. The number of armed units, which had declared their adherence to the cessation of hostilities, is unchanged - 60, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force did not strike on opposition paramilitary units, which had declared the cessation of hostilities and had informed either the Russian or U.S. reconciliation center about their location," the ministry said.
