Savchenko again calls for direct talks with Donbas

KYIV. June 8 (Interfax) - Ukrainian parliamentarian Nadiya Savchenko, of the Batkivshchyna faction, calls for dialogue with Donbas without Russia's involvement.

"There can be no elections in a territory seized by an enemy, which is dictating its rules. I want Ukrainians to start talking amongst themselves. I am ready to do this and apply all possible efforts, but without the neighbor's and the enemy's interference," Savchenko said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

At the same time, Savchenko said, "I am ready to talk with anyone, including enemies and friends, so that the state returns mothers their children home safe and sound."

Savchenko had earlier spoken in favor of direct negotiations with Donbas, and offered her candidacy as a negotiator. Denis Pushilin, the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) envoy at negotiations in Minsk, said he was ready to negotiate with Savchenko if Kyiv invested her with the necessary mandate.
