Aktobe attack perpetrated by adherents to radical movements, who received instructions from abroad - Nazarbayev

ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - The perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Kazakhstan's Aktobe received instructions from abroad, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

"Based on information available, the terrorist attack was organized by adherents to radical pseudo-religious movements, and they received their instructions from abroad," Nazarbayev said in a statement published on the presidential website on Wednesday.

The law enforcement took "the necessary measures to toughly curb this criminal action and destroy and neutralize the terrorists," he said.

"At my instructions, a special interagency investigative team is working under the interior minister's command. The investigation is proceeding under the prosecutor general's personal supervision. All criminals will be called to account to the fullest extent of the law," he said.

Nazarbayev offered his condolences to the relatives and beloved ones of the dead.

"To our immense regret, there have been fatalities and injured ones among military servicemen and civilians. They had families and children. I offer my sincere condolences to all of the relatives and beloved ones of the dead. I declare Thursday, June 9, a national day of mourning for the dead. In line with my instructions, the Interior Ministry and the akimats [the regional administrations] are providing all possible assistance to the families of the dead and injured," he said.

Nazarbayev also mentioned high professionalism of the law enforcement and security agencies members who repelled the terrorist attacks.
