Over 160 al-Nusra militants cross into Syria from Turkey to reinforce terrorists in Aleppo area - Russian center for reconciliation
HMEIMIM. June 8 (Interfax) - More than one hundred of militants have crossed the Turkey-Syria border in the Idlib province in order to support the terrorists in Aleppo, an official from the Russian center for reconciliation of warring sides in the Syrian Arab Republic told Interfax on Wednesday.
"More than 160 militants of the Jabhat al-Nusra group have been spotted on their move across the Turkey-Syria border. The armed gang has crossed the border in the north of the Idlib province, aiming to reinforce the groups of terrorists operating in Aleppo area," the official said.
"Militants of the ISIL ['Islamic State'] and Jabhat al-Nusra [terrorist groups outlawed in Russia] have, for several days, been conducting an artillery surveillance of targets and reference point matching around Aleppo," the official of the Center said.
Militants have been shelling residential blocks, administrative buildings, the positions of government troops and militias. The shellings are intense, the official said.
A source at the Center said earlier, on Wednesday, that more than one hundred Aleppo civilians were hurt, and dozens killed in the shellings conducted by Jabhat al-Nusra militants.
