Five killed, 50 injured as Jabhat al-Nusra militants fire explosives-packed gas cylinders at district of Aleppo - Russian Defense Ministry

HMEIMIM. June 9 (Interfax) - Militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) have fired gas cylinders filled with explosives at a district in Syria's Aleppo city, killing five people and injuring more than 50.

"As a result of Jabhat al-Nusra militants firing gas cylinders filled with explosives at a market in the Meydan neighborhood in the city of Aleppo, five civilians were killed and more than 50 were injured. Around 20 houses were damaged," a spokesman for the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria told Interfax on Thursday.

It is not the first time "Jabhat al-Nusra militants have intentionally carried out strikes on crowded places in the city, seeking a high death toll," he said.

In the past 24 hours, Jabhat al-Nusra militants have continued their strikes against the town of Fuah in Idlib Province, the settlements of Ard Al-Wata and Rasha in Latakia Province, government forces' checkpoints near Rasm Al-Tahabia, Tabaret Al-Hamra and Rasm Afandi in Hama Province, the village of Marj Al-Sultan in Damascus Province, the eastern part of the Al-Manshiyah neighborhood in the city of Daraa, as well as a checkpoint at the entrance to this city, the spokesman said.
