Russian, Turkmen defense ministers discuss military cooperation, anti-terrorism measures

ASHGABAT. June 9 (Interfax) - Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu and his Turkmen counterpart Col. Gen. Yaylym Berdiyew have met to discuss anti-terrorism measures, military and military-technical cooperation.

"I would like us to focus on the main concern of the Russian Armed Forces and all security services and systems practically across the world. I am speaking about international terrorism," Shoigu said at his negotiations with Berdiyew.

"Hopefully, today we will have a chance to discuss these threats, which concern our country and our entire home region," Shoigu said.

The minister said they were set to discuss the broadest range of cooperation issues in every sphere, including military education, military medicine and culture.

"Military and military-technical cooperation with friendly, neutral Turkmenistan will be discussed, too," he said.
