ISIL recruiter held in Bryansk region
BRYANSK. June 14 (Interfax) - Border guards in the Bryansk region have detained a Russian citizen put on the federal wanted list, the press service of the regional department of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported.
"It was established that he earlier committed a number of grave crimes in North Caucasus as a member of illegal armed groups. He also fought in Syria on the side of ISIL, which is banned in Russia, and hid from justice in the EU," the press service said in a statement.
"Not having given up the ideas of religious extremism, he tried to return to Russia to recruit new ISIL members," it said.
The man was detained in a check of a train en route from Ukraine to Russia on June 10, it said.
