U.S., its allies trying to create anti-Russian deterrence front by Cold War patterns - Lavrov

MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - The United States and its allies are trying to create an anti-Russian front, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Russia is defending national interests at a time when the United States and its allies are trying to create an anti-Russian deterrence front by the Cold War patterns," the minister said at the State Duma on Wednesday.

At the same time, "they cannot deny that the Russian position on essential contemporary issues has been consistent," the minister said.

"Not a single country, even the most powerful one, not a single group of states can aspire to resolve numerous contemporary problems unaided," Lavrov said.

"Collective diplomatic work has been built under those circumstances, on the basis of equality of key diplomatic players, in the interests of finding optimal solutions to common extensive threats," the minister said.
