Aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov may be sent to coast of Syria after maintenance - head of State Duma committee on defense
MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The only Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov may be sent to the Mediterranean after maintenance, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov, the head of the State Duma committee on defense and former commander of the Russian Black Sea fleet, told Interfax on Wednesday.
"It will go in a timely manner, if the operative situation requires, and if our guys need support on the Syrian track," he said.
"There are no obstacles to that as the work required by the regulations is nearing its completion," Komoyedov said.
It was reported on Wednesday that the Admiral Kuznetsov had completed the work of the first stage of its maintenance and entered the Northern Sea roads of the Kola Gulf. The cruiser will go to the Barents Sea after replenishing its supplies.
