Russian Olympic Committee ready to cooperate with IOC, all intl sports federations to counter doping - Zhukov
MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) - The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) is ready to work with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to crack down on doping, ROC President Alexander Zhukov said at the IOC summit in Lausanne.
"I, as president of the ROC, am here in order to confirm our wish and our readiness to cooperate with the IOC and all international federations to counter doping," he said.
He called on IOC members to make joint efforts to find balanced and fair solutions that protect the interests of athletes.
"These are the solutions that will help protect the unity of the Olympic movement as the whole world is looking at us in the run-up to the most important athletic event on the planet," Zhukov was quoted as saying by the ROC press service.
During its summit in Lausanne on Tuesday, the IOC is discussing the prospects of Russian track and field athletes at the upcoming Olympic Games.
