Nuland discusses Minsk agreements implementation with Ukrainian president - U.S. Embassy
KYIV. June 23 (Interfax) - Victoria Nuland, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, and Senior Directors of Departments of the U.S. National Security Council, Charles Kupchan and Celeste Wallander, held meetings with the Ukrainian top-ranking officials to discuss the agenda of reforms and the Minsk agreements implementation in support of the 'Normandy format' on June 22.
As the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine reported, the American delegation held meetings with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy, Ukrainian Presidential Administration's Deputy Head for Foreign Policy Issues Kostiantyn Yeliseyev and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
During the consultations, which had been comprehensive and constructive, the sides closely focused on security requirements in the Minsk agreements prior to the American delegation's visit to Moscow on June 23, the embassy's report said.
The American side welcomed the determination of the Ukrainian authorities towards the complete implementation of the Minsk agreements and noted that the anti-Russian sanctions should remain in effect for the achievement of this goal, the report said.
