MOSCOW. July 2 (Interfax) - No Russian nationals were among those injured or killed in the recent hostage takeover committed by terrorists in Bangladesh.
"According to the Russian embassy to Bangladesh, no Russian nationals were among the people injured [in the terror attack]," the Russian Foreign Ministry press service said in a commentary posted on the ministry's website.
"We are outraged over another barbarous terrorist raid, for which there cannot be any excuse. We express our sincere condolences to families of victims, and wish soonest recovery to the injured," it said.
"What happened in Dhaka is to once again prove the necessity of an immediate consolidation of efforts by the entire international community in the struggle against international terrorism," the ministry said.
Late on Friday, a group of terrorists took a number of people hostage at the Holey Artisan Bakery cafe situated in the diplomatic quarter of Bangladesh's capital of Dhaka. Several foreign nationals were among the hostages. According to reports, the extremists killed 20 people and 13 hostages were rescued in a military operation carried out by the army and police. The so-called Islamic State (the terrorist organization outlawed in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
