Russia's Agriculture Ministry pointing grain exports to Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific

MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax) - Russia's Agriculture Ministry is orienting grain exports toward markets in the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.

"The priority growth markets for exports are countries in the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, since many countries in these regions are seeing growth of population and prosperity, as well as significant amounts of annually growing grain imports," the ministry said following a discussion of a draft strategy for the development of Russia's grain sector to 2025 and the period to 2030.

First Deputy Agriculture Minister Dzhambulat Khatuov said at the meeting that the strategy calls for ramping up grain exports by 60% to 48.5 million tonnes by 2030 from 30.7 million tonnes in 2015.
