Russia's broad monetary base expands 0.7% in May - Central Bank

MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - Russia's broad monetary base expanded 0.7% to 10.786 trillion rubles in June 2016 from 10.708 trillion rubles at the beginning of the month, Russia's Central Bank said on its website.

The base declined by 2.3% in January-June, from 11.044 trillion rubles at the beginning of the year. It was 11.1% wider compared with 9.707 trillion rubles as of July 1, 2015.

The broad monetary base is the sum of cash issued by the Central Bank, including cash in bank vaults, required reserves at banks, bank correspondent accounts at the Central Bank, bank deposits at the Central Bank, and other Central Bank obligations on operations with banks in the national currency.
