Russian LNG production may amount to 60-100 bcm of gas a year by 2035 - Energy Ministry
ST. PETERSBURG. July 15 (Interfax) - The Russian Energy Ministry expects consumption of gas for production of LNG to total 60 billion-100 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas a year, Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov said at the St. Petersburg Dialog forum on Friday.
"We expect that by 2035 the total amount of gas consumed for the purpose of liquefaction might be located in the range 60-100 bcm," Molodtsov said.
About 5 million tonnes of LNG will be consumed in Russia and the EAEU area by 2035, he said. "In the horizon to 2035, we can reach volumes of consumption at various locations in Russia and the EAEU countries of roughly 5 million tonnes, produced at installations with varied capacities," he said.
The manufacture of key equipment types must be localized in Russia in order to achieve those LNG volumes.
"About 65% of the equipment to produce LNG may be manufactured in Russia. But the key types of equipment - cryogenic heat exchangers, large-capacity compressors and pumps, LNG tanks and shipping systems - are those that must be localized to Russia," he said.
"We hope to cooperate with such companies as Shell, with developers such as Linde, we expect that other countries will localize production," he said.
