Evraz reduces steel production 9.9% to 3.2 mln tonnes in Q2

MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - Evraz reduced steel production by 9.9% quarter-on-quarter to 3.196 million tonnes in the second quarter of 2016, the Russian steel and mining company said.

The reduction of steel production is attributable to the scheduled capital repairs at blast furnace N1 at Evraz ZSMK.

"Production of steel products, net of re-rolled volumes, decreased [13.2%]quarter-on-quarter to 2.9 million tonnes, due to planned capital repairs at blast furnace 1 at EVRAZ ZSMK and a higher share of intragroup re-rolled volumes at EVRAZ North America," the statement said.

The production of finished products in the reporting period rose by 0.4% to 1.874 million tonnes. The production of semi-finished products fell 30.9% to 997,000 tonnes, which happened due to the rise in demand for construction products in Ukraine and Russia.
