All-Russia swimming federation chief hopes for IOC's just decision on Russia's participation in 2016 Olympics
MOSCOW. July 20 (Interfax) - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) needs to take a just decision regarding Russian athletes, All-Russia Swimming Federation head, four-time Olympic champion Vladimir Salnikov said.
"I believe in justice and that the IOC will take a just decision and the primary principle of the Olympic Charter, that is the impartiality and the opportunity for all to take part in the Olympic Games, will not be violated," Salnikov said.
"The accusations against the athletes, who did not perpetrate any crimes and did not breach the anti-doping legislation, are even inappropriate to be mentioned. How can they bear any responsibility for someone else?" he also said.
"Of course, the fight against doping implies some victims, now it is difficult to predict, when it [doping] will be finally defeated. But most important is that a culprit should be punished, but not the one who has worked honestly and has given his forces and energy for the achievement of the sport result," Salnikov said.
