More than 140 policemen killed in line of duty in past 5 years - Kazakh prosecutor general
ASTANA. July 22 (Interfax) - Kazakh law enforcement agencies are set to expose and neutralize terrorists, Kazakh Prosecutor General Zhakip Assanov said.
"In the past, we feared terrorists from the outside. Now, threats exist inside. The chief of state has noted the role of police and security services in the liquidation of terrorists and urged the population to change the attitude to law enforcers. They are the first to bear weight of an attack. Most of these people are honest professionals loyal to their cause and ready to sacrifice their lives," Assanov said at a meeting of the Prosecutor General's Office board in Astana on Friday.
A total of 144 police officers died in the line of duty in the past five years, he said.
Terrorists are No1 threat on the planet, the prosecutor general said. "Law enforcement agencies are set to expose and neutralize terrorists. There are laws, means and human resources for doing so," Assanov said.
