Militants in Syria violate cessation in Damascus governorate 4 times - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - Militants from the Jaysh al-Islam group banned in Russia have violated the cessation agreements in the Damascus governorate in Syria four times over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The cessation of hostilities has been observed in most governorates of the Syrian Arab Republic over the past 24 hours. Four violations have been recorded in the Damascus governorate," the Russian center for the reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria reported in a bulletin posted on the Defense Ministry website.
In particular, units belonging to Jaysh al-Islam, a group claiming to be in opposition to the Syrian government, fired mortars upon the populated areas of Nashabiyah, Arbil, Huteita al-Jarash, and Jaubar, it said.
