Media claims of Moscow's attempts to interfere in U.S. presidential campaign progress unfounded - Russian Embassy

WASHINGTON. July 26 (Interfax) - The Russian Embassy in Washington DC called unfounded media claims that Moscow has been trying to interfere in the course of the U.S. presidential election campaign.

"We have been witnessing a series of inadequate claims which have again filled the U.S. media. We can only be bemused by such childish, unfounded accusations of us doing something entirely unrealistic," the Russian Embassy wrote on Facebook.

Correspondence from a party server was published on WikiLeaks late last week; it appeared that the party initially supported Hillary Clinton against her rival Bernie Sanders. The leak triggered the resignation of the Democratic National Committee chair, the Associated Press said.

The Clinton staff accused Russia of being involved in email hacking. Staff representative Brian Fallon said experts agreed that Russia was behind that hacking operation.

U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump (Republican) said such claims of the Clinton staff were ridiculous.
