Russia may approve anti-doping strategy before end of September - Mutko
MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - Russia's anti-doping strategy may be approved in late September, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said at a joint meeting of the Sports Ministry's Collegium and Public Council on Friday.
An anti-doping commission led by Vitaly Smirnov, honored president of the Russian Olympic Committee, has been created on the recommendation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said.
"It will study our anti-doping policies, programs and strategies and I hope it will come up with its proposals that will later be coordinated with WADA and we can approve a new anti-doping strategy in late September, possibly at the forum Russia - Sports Power," Mutko said.
He said Russia should be open in issues relating to the anti-doping system reform, but anti-doping standards should be the same for everyone. "We should understand that such standards and requirements are used both for our athletes and for other countries," he said.
