Supreme commander-in-chief to receive naval parade in St. Petersburg on July 31 - Russian Defense Ministry

OTRADNOYE, Leningrad region. July 29 (Interfax) - The head of state will receive a flotilla parade on the Neva river in St. Petersburg on Navy Day, Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov told journalists on Friday.

"The supreme commander-in-chief will receive the parade [in St. Petersburg]," he said.

Celebrations in St. Petersburg on Navy Day this Sunday, July 31, will begin with a traditional flotilla parade on the Neva river and end with fireworks in the evening.

The St. Petersburg flotilla parade will involve 15 ships, one submarine and a training sailing yacht presented earlier by the UK, Oleg Zhuravlyov, the Western Military District's head of naval command, said earlier. According to a years-long tradition, after the formal stage the ships will be opened to the public.

The coastal stage of the parade will take place on the Dvortsovaya Embankment. Also, an exhibition aboard the cruiser Avrora will officially open on Navy Day. The refurbished ship will open to visitors from August 1.
