DPR hopes for resumption of negotiations with Kyiv on return of over 600 prisoners to republic
DONETSK. July 29 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) hopes to resume negotiations with Kyiv on prisoner exchange in the 'all for all' format at the next meeting of the humanitarian subgroup of the Contact Group on settlement in Ukraine.
"Some representatives of the Ukrainian side have again tried to speculate on the total number of our detained guys. We are hoping they will bring their lists in order by the next meeting of the humanitarian subgroup and we will continue negotiations on the exchange using the 'all for all' formula," DPR human rights ombudsman Daria Morozova told reporters on Friday.
Morozova said the DPR insists on the return of the 600 prisoners declared earlier.
"We insist that our opponents return to us the officially declared prisoners; there are over 600 of them, and the figure was earlier officially stated by the Ukrainian side. We expect Ukraine to fulfill the obligations they have assumed," Morozova said.
She also said UNICEF officials had presented a roadmap to return the children who were illegally taken from the DPR to the territory controlled by Ukraine at the latest meeting of the humanitarian subgroup.
"We, like the Ukrainian side, have remarks and comments on this roadmap. We are working on a large-scale solution to this issue and we are hoping for a prompt result," Morozova said.
