Navalny considers Federal Penitentiary Service's motions on giving him real sentence as pressure on his foundation

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Opposition activist Alexei Navalny regards the Federal Penitentiary Service's motion to replace his suspended sentence with a real one, which was dismissed by a court, as a pressure at the Anti-Corruption Foundation he is heading, due to the investigations conducted by it, Navalny said.

"This is the pressure put on the Anti-Corruption Foundation, my brother Oleg, who is currently in a penal colony in the Tambov region. This will not affect the investigations, which we have conducted and will conduct against the country's high-ranking officials, in any way," he told reporters on Monday.

He said that he considers the motion of the inspection department as "the next test of the public opinion."

"But the public opinion has not yet allowed to do it [imprison Navalny]. For that reason, I am grateful for the support, which was provided to me," he said.

Navalny said that he brought his "bag for prison" to today's hearing at the Lublino District Court.

"This is the necessity in my life, however, there are products which expire soon and need to be replaced," he said.

Earlier on Monday, the Lublino District Court declined to replace Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case with a real one.

Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky District Court found brothers Alexei and Oleg Navalny guilty in the case of fraud and embezzlement of funds from the Yves Rocher cosmetic company, and sentenced Alexei Navalny to 3.5 years of a suspended sentence and his brother Oleg to 3.5 years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony on December 30, 2014.
