Russian, U.S. military take pause in Geneva talks on Syria; experts gone to their capitals to analyze results - diplomatic source
MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - The talks between the Russian and U.S. military on Syria have now been paused as the two countries' representatives returned to Moscow and Washington in order to analyze what has been achieved.
"The negotiations themselves have not stopped. This is a break in them now. Everybody's gone to the capitals to look at the results of what has been achieved here," a diplomatic source told Interfax on Tuesday.
Russian military experts arrived in Geneva on Friday, July 29, and close consultations started. It was expected that the U.S. side could share with the Russian side the maps on which the moderate opposition's locations in Syria are indicated.
In addition, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax earlier that Washington's initiative on introduction of a seven-day ceasefire in Syria could also be discussed at these consultations.
