Rosatom holds talks on contract for third stage of Kudankulam NPP in India
MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - Rosatom deputy CEO for international relations Nikolai Spassky met with the head of the Indian government's nuclear energy department and chairman of India's Atomic Energy Commission, Sekhar Basu, in Mumbai at the beginning of August, the Russian state nuclear corporation said.
Attention was primarily focused on the prospects of signing a general framework agreement on the construction of the fifth and sixth generating units of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, the company said.
Spassky and Basu also discussed the preparations for the power start-up of the No. 2 reactor at Kudankulam, Rosatom said.
Rosatom CEO Sergei Kiriyenko said at the end of July that the company might sign a contract on the construction of the third phase of Kudankulam this fall. The agreement on the fifth and sixth units of the plant was previously expected to be signed in the first quarter of 2016.
