Russia destroys over 7,500 tonne of food subject to sanctions since Aug 2015

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russia has destroyed more than 7,500 tonnes of food products subject to sanctions since August 6, 2015, the Federal Veterinary and Phyto-Sanitary Oversight Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) said.

This included 7,282 tonnes of plant products and 228.6 tonnes of animal products.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that there was a substantial difference in the volumes of crop products and livestock products due to the action of the system developed by the service of electronic veterinary certification, which, in particular, is meant to prevent incidents of illegal supplies.
