Russian electricity exports decline 16% to 8.14bln kWh in H1 - Customs

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russia exported 8.14 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in January-June 2016, 16% less than in the same period last year, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.

In value terms, the exports fell 27% to $288 million.

Russia exported 6.1 billion kWh to non-CIS countries, down 1.6% year-on-year. Their value fell by 12% to $206.8 million.

Electricity exports to the CIS countries fell nearly 45% to 2 billion kWh. In value terms, they fell nearly 50% to $81.1 million.

Russia imported 1.5 billion kWh of electricity, down 60%. The value of the imports fell 86% to $24.7 million in the first two months of 2016.

Imports from non-CIS countries rose to 223.4 million kWh, up 2.9%, worth $3.1 million against $3.8 million a year earlier. Imports from CIS countries fell 64% to 1.3 billion kWh worth $21.5 million, down 86%.
