Duma to back agreement on open-ended deployment of Russian air force group in Syria - MP Zheleznyak

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Russian parliamentarians will certainly vote in favor of ratifying an agreement on deploying the Russian Armed Forces' air force group in Syria, the State Duma said.

"There is no doubt that the relevant bill, which was submitted to the State Duma for ratification, will be supported by the majority of deputies and will be adopted," State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak, who is also deputy head of the United Russia faction, said.

It is an open-ended agreement, he said.

"The decision made by the head of our state, the decision made at the request of the Syrian government, helped defend in a stable manner the people of Syria from terrorist groups' aggression," Zheleznyak said.

Russian servicemen are performing the most important peacekeeping mission as they assist the truce between Syrian government forces and the opposition and deliver humanitarian aid to Syrian residents who suffered at the hands of terrorists, in such a way providing the population with needed food and medicines, Zheleznyak said.
