Erdogan says Turkey and Russia have political will to bring relations to above pre-crisis level

ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey have the political will to bring bilateral relations to the pre-crisis level or even higher, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"Our two sides are set on bringing our relations to the pre-crisis level, even to a higher level," Erdogan said at a Tuesday press conference following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We have the political will for that," he said.

"I think that the public opinion in our countries also expects precisely this of us. And as a result of the talks that we had today political, social, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between Russia and Turkey will finally be brought to the deserving level that was inherent to them before the crisis," Erdogan said.

He spoke of the need to restore charter air flights between Russia and Turkey, "cancel the restrictive measures that are applied with regard to Turkish farm produce and open the door to the operation of Turkish construction contracting companies."

"I hope that together step by step we will be taking all the necessary moves in this direction," Erdogan said.
