Kazzinc produces 89,200 tonnes of zinc in H1, no change from last year

ALMATY. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Kazzinc produced 89,200 tonnes of zinc in January-June 2016, or no change from the same period last year, Glencore International Plc. said in a press release published on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

"Own sourced zinc production of 89,200 tonnes was in line with H1 2015, reflecting consistent plant operations with minimal interruptions," the press release says.

Own sourced lead production of 31,900 tonnes in January-June 2016 was 23,900 tonnes higher than H1 2015, due to improved lead smelting performance following maintenance in H1 2015 and the addition of volumes from the Zhairem mine, acquired in 2014, according to the press release.

Own sourced copper production of 25,100 tonnes was 1,100 tonnes (5%) higher than in H1 2015, when volumes were impacted by maintenance activities.

"Own sourced gold production of 243,000 ounces was 4,000 ounces (2%) lower than in H1 2015, due to a temporary stoppage of the gold refinery for a periodic stock count," the press release says.

Kazzinc is a major integrated zinc producer with considerable copper, precious metals and lead output.

Kazzinc is controlled by Glencore International Plc (50.7%) and Kazakhstan's National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna (29%).
