Retail trade decline slows to 5% in July, better than forecast - Rosstat
MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - Retail turnover in Russia fell 5% year-on-year in July 2016 to 2.364 trillion rubles, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
The decline slowed from 5.9% in June and was better than the 5.7% drop that analysts predicted in a consensus forecast for Interfax.
In January-July 2016, retail trade declined 5.6% to 15.521 trillion rubles.
Sales of food products, including beverages and tobacco products, were down 5.1% to 1.149 trillion rubles in July, after falling 5.7% in June. These sales declined 5.1% to 7.652 trillion rubles in 7M.
The decline in sales of non-food goods fell 5% in July (6.1% in June), to 1.215 trillion rubles. Non-food sales declined 6.1% to 7.869 trillion rubles in 7M.
Leading Russian retailer Magnit saw year-on-year revenue growth accelerate to 13.77% in July from 13.5% in June. Dixy Group
