No Russians harmed in recent attacks in Turkey - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Preliminary reports indicate that no Russians were harmed in bombings and armed attacks in Turkey on Wednesday and Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"Based on preliminary information, there are no Russian citizens among those injured," Zakharova told journalists on Thursday.

The bombings were committed in Turkish regions that the Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly discouraged Russian citizens from visiting, she said.

"I would like to say words of compassion to the Turkish people and our colleagues, and words of compassion to the families of the dead and those injured, and wish that they recover soon," she said.

The bombings were committed in Turkey on August 17, Zakharova said. "They also continued today, armed attacks were committed, including with the use of explosive devices," she said.

More than ten people have been killed and 180 others injured in the attacks, Zakharova said. "These are not final data yet," she said.
