International Paralympic Committee to redistribute slots remaining vacant after ban of Russian athletes
MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will redistribute 267 quota spots earlier secured by Russian athletes, who have not eventually been cleared for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the IPC said in a press release.
"Following the CAS [Court of Arbitration for Sport] panel's decision, the IPC will now work with International Federations to redistribute the 267 slots that had been secured by Russian athletes to compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games," the IPC said.
The CAS on Tuesday (23 August) dismissed the appeal filed by the Russian Paralympic Committee against its suspension by the IPC and barring Russian athletes from the Rio Paralympics.
