Russian Paralympians still have chances to compete in Rio - Russian Paralympic Committee first vice-president

MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Russian Paralympians still have some chances to compete in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Russian Paralympic Committee First Vice-President Pavel Rozhkov said.

"The process did not end at what happened in Rio, where the court [the Court of Arbitration for Sport] did not support our appeal. An international team of lawyers working with the Russian Paralympic Committee is drawing up documents. We won't announce our further steps, we will be able to do this by Friday, when the documents are ready," Rozhkov said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The lawyers' opinions enable the Russian Paralympic Committee to have an optimistic outlook, Rozhkov said. "Therefore, we have not stopped the training process for our athletes, and our guys are continuing to train and prepare for the games," he said.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday dismissed the Russian Paralympic Committee's appeal against the International Paralympic Committee's decision to suspend the Russian Paralympic Committee's membership and bar Russian Paralympians from competing in the Rio Games.
