By barring Russian Paralympians from Rio Games, International Paralympic Committee yields to political pressure - Russian Olympic Committee president

MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The decision to bar Russian Paralympians from the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is inhumane and politically motivated, Russian Olympic Committee President Alexander Zhukov said.

"The Paralympians have been treated in an inhumane way, although they are absolutely innocent. This is a politicized decision. The International Olympic Committee has withstood political pressure, but the International Paralympic Committee hasn't," Zhukov said on Thursday.

Talking about the organization of the Olympic Games in Brazil, Zhukov said the games passed successfully and without serious setbacks. He also suggested that the Russian Olympic movement has good prospects.
