Army special operations units being airlifted from north-west to south as part of surprise check - Russian Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Military-Transport Aviation planes are helping to redeploy personnel and hardware of the units involved in an ongoing surprise inspection of combat preparedness, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Military-transport aircraft crews are airlifting special operations units from the north-west of Russia to training ranges in the Southern Military District," the ministry said in a press release, seen by Interfax-AVN on Friday.
Around 20 Ilyushin Il-76 planes of Military-Transport Aviation are involved in the forces redeployment.
"In addition to that, Military-Transport Aviation crews are working to relocate the aviation engineer service's equipment to tactical airfields, to which airplanes and helicopters of the Aerospace Forces' tactical operations force and army air force will be redeployed," it said.
