Five injured, houses, infrastructure damaged in overnight shelling- DPR

DONETSK. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Overnight shelling in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has left five civilians injured and several houses damaged.

The overnight shelling has damaged the Mandrykino train station and kindergarten N71 in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, an Interfax correspondent said. A residential house beside the station was also damaged but no one injured.

The kindergarten's roof and glazing have been damaged, its representative told reporters.

Meanwhile, a DPR military source told the Donetsk news agency that five people were injured in the shelling of Horlivka and Donetsk in the early hours of Sunday.

"Two men and a woman were injured in the village of Zaitseve overnight, one of them is in very critical condition. Two more civilians were injured in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk," the source said.

The incidents are being investigated, he said.

Furthermore, ten houses and a gas pipe have been damaged in the Donetsk city's Kuibyshevsky district. "In all, ten houses have been damaged in the village of Oktyabrsky overnight. Also a shell hit a gas pipe, and a woman suffered a fragmentation injury," a district administration official told journalists on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday Kyiv said that the Ukrainian military positions in Donbas had been shelled 59 times in the preceding 24 hours. There were 26 shell attacks in the Donetsk area, the military operation's press center said on Facebook on Sunday morning.
