Ruble retreats against dollar, euro

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - The ruble is retreating against the dollar on the Moscow Exchange on Monday evening as oil prices fall.

The dollar was down 20 kopecks at 65.06 rubles/$1 by 6:50 p.m., and the euro was up 9.5 kopecks at 72.7 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) rose 15 kopecks to 68.5 rubles.

As the result of this morning's index session, the Central Bank raised its official dollar rate for tomorrow by 34.3 kopecks to 65.081 rubles/$1 but lowered its euro rate by 28.96 kopecks to 72.7996 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar averaged up 32 kopecks to 65.055 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the Moscow Exchange and, by 6:45 p.m., was up 42 kopecks to 65.07 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $2.76 billion, of which $1.01 billion Today and $1.75 billion Tom.

The euro averaged down 31 kopecks in Today deals to 72.76 rubles/EUR1 and was down 29 kopecks in Tom deals to 72.74 rubles/EUR1 in volume of EUR292 million, of which EUR156 million Today and EUR136 million Tom.

The MosPrime rate for overnight loans was unchanged at 10.59% p.a.
