DPR and ICRC drafting roadmap to return bodies of killed militiamen

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are jointly working to draw up a roadmap to bring the bodies of killed militiamen back from Kyiv-controlled territories, DPR human rights commissioner Darya Morozova told Interfax.

"Certain procedural difficulties emerge during the process of returning the bodies of killed [militiamen] to our territory from Ukraine. Therefore, with the mediation of the Red Cross, we are working on a document - a roadmap that will facilitate this process on both sides," Morozova said.

For a number of political reasons, Kyiv is not demonstrating its readiness for direct dialogue on this issue and is even refusing to recognize the procedural documents issued by investigative agencies of the self-proclaimed republic with regard to those killed, she said.

"Consequently, the Red Cross may take charge of documentation issues within the framework of this document," she said.

After this roadmap is drafted in detail, it is expected to be submitted to the Trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine in Minsk for consideration.

"This issue is not being discussed in Minsk so far. Certain details of the document are being fine-tuned. The roadmap is still a draft. There is a lot of work ahead," Morozova said.
