Medvedev confirms plans to index pensions next year

LIPETSK. Aug 30 (Interfax) - The decision to index pensions has been approved in general and money has been earmarked for it, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with pensioners on Tuesday.

"There are no doubts. All the decisions that the indexation will be carried out have been approved in general, money has been earmarked for next year," he said.

Alongside the one-time payment totaling 200 billion rubles that will made at the beginning of next year, another 260 billion rubles will go to the indexation.

"The indexation will be carried out in full in accordance with cumulative inflation - that is, simply put - with the increase in prices in 2016. It will, accordingly, be paid in 2017," Medvedev said.
