Putin, Egyptian president to meet on sidelines of G20 summit - Kremlin

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bipartite talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of a Group of Twenty (G20) summit in the Chinese city of Hangzhou on September 5, presidential aide Yury Ushakov told journalists on Tuesday.

"The president will hold one more important contact that is with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on September 5," Ushakov said.

The Russian and Egyptian leaders "plan to discuss the problem of the Syria crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli settlement process, and the situation in Libya."

Putin and el-Sisi also plan to consider the implementation of a number of major bilateral projects, among them "the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, the establishment of a Russian industrial area in the ARE, and the establishment of a financial platform by the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Bank of Egypt, and Banque Misr to implement joint investment projects in Egyptian territory," the Kremlin press service said.

The strengthening of trade and economic ties between the two countries will also be among the key subjects of the negotiations. "In January-June this year, trade grew by 7% to $2 billion ($4.1 in 2015, decline by 30%)," it said.
