St. Petersburg administration doesn't comment on reports on possible resignation of Poltavchenko

ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 31 (Interfax) - The press service for St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko did not comment on the media publications on the possible resignation of the governor after the September elections.

"The powers of Governor Georgy Poltavchenko expire in 2019. Traditionally, the press service does not comment on rumors citing unnamed sources," Andrei Kibitov, press officer for Poltavchenko, told Interfax on Wednesday.

"I would like to say that it is not the first such publication in the federal media that cites unknown sources over a long period of time," Kibitov said. He said the governor continues working normally.

The media earlier published information on the possible resignation of Poltavchenko after the September 18 elections. It was reported that Poltavchenko will allegedly take a different high-ranking position.
