EPP president to come to Minsk to support opposition ahead of elections
MINSK. Sept 1 (Interfax) - European People's Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul will visit Belarus on September 1-2, the United Civil Party of Belarus said on its website.
"Daul is coming at the invitation of the center-right coalition in order to support the center-right candidates for MP and to monitor the situation," it said.
On Thursday, Daul will meet with representatives of the Belarusian authorities and will visit several pickets to be organized by center-right parties and a parliamentary candidate from the United Civil Party, the party said.
"Apart from that, we will hold talks with the broad democratic coalition. The election campaign in Belarus will be on the agenda," it said.
Daul is also expected to meet with members of youth center-right organizations on Friday.
The parliamentary elections in Belarus have been set for September 11.
