Kazakh parliament tasked with consolidating legislative fundamentals of national security - Nazarbayev

ASTANA. Sept 1 (Interfax) - Seven security bills will be submitted to parliament in Kazakhstan before the end of this year, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

"Consolidation of legislative fundamentals of national security has become a priority. The same as practically any other country, Kazakhstan has encountered a direct terrorist threat. Terror attacks perpetrated in Aktobe and Almaty killed National Guard servicemen and policemen, innocent citizens," Nazarbayev said at the opening of a parliament session in Astana on Thursday.

"Seven bills pertaining to the fight against extremism and terrorism, counterintelligence, fingerprinting and DNA registration, probation and cyber security of the country have been developed on my orders and will be submitted to the Majilis," he said.

It is of paramount importance to maintain security and public stability, Nazarbayev said.

"I am asking deputies to take these proposals very seriously and to resolve these issues before yearend. The new session is due to discuss and approve nearly 50 bills, to adopt seven new laws initiated by deputies and backed up by the government," Nazarbayev said.
