Tashkent inclined towards constructive interaction with Kyrgyzstan in non-delimited border sectors - Kyrgyz PM
BISHKEK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan is inclined to constructively interact with Kyrgyzstan in the problem of hitherto non-delimited border sections, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at a working conference on Monday.
"Border issues, including detention of Kyrgyz citizens, were discussed yesterday with my colleague, Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting in the city of Samarkand. The Uzbek side is inclined towards constructive cooperation," Jeenbekov said.
"The prime minister gave relevant instructions to conference participants and noted the need for coordinated, intensive work with the authorities of Uzbekistan for the sake of the soonest resolution of outstanding problems and prevention of conflicts in relations with the neighboring country," the Kyrgyz government press service told Interfax after the conference. It said the conference addressed "the situation in relations with Uzbekistan in the non-delimited border sector, Mount Ungar-Too."
Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldayev, Interior Minister Kashkar Junushaliyev, State Committee for National Security head Abdil Segizbayev, State Border Service head Abdikarim Alimbayev, State Information Technology and Communication Committee head Bakyt Sharshembiyev and Special Representative of the Government for Border Issues Kurbanbai Iskandarov attended the conference.
Four citizens of Kyrgyzstan were detained on August 22 in a non-delimitated sector of the state border, on Mount Ungar-Too where Uzbek policemen arrived by helicopter. Negotiations on their release have so far been vain.
