Three militants killed in anti-terrorism operation in Makhachkala - source
MAKHACHKALA. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Police are establishing the identity of three militants killed in an anti-terrorism operation in Makhachkala, a source from the regional law enforcement authorities told Interfax on Wednesday.
"According to preliminary information, three armed militants have been killed in a special operation in the Kirovsky district of Makhachkala. Law enforcement officers and bomb squad specialists are examining the clash scene," he said.
A group of militants was trapped in a house on Rakhmatullayeva Street in Makhachkala earlier in the day.
The trapped militants opened intense fire, the source said. The house was blocked, and an anti-terrorism operation regime was imposed in the area.
"The militants were killed in a shootout. Their identity is being established," a source told Interfax earlier.
