Putin calls for closer cooperation between Gazprom, regions on gasification
MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Regional authorities must cooperate more closely with Gazprom on gasification, President Vladimir Putin said.
"There needs to be close work with the regional authorities. Because Gazprom only builds the main pipeline, the trunk line, and its distribution further along must be done by the regions and municipalities. This must be combined. To avoid having the trunk pipeline approach and then go out to a field or some other regions, and no one gets any gas," Putin said in Moscow on Tuesday at a meeting with the United Russia party and experts.
During the meeting, Valentina Tereshkova told the president about gasification problems in the non-Black Earth zone, to which Putin responded: "At Gazprom there is a pertinent plan. We will take it, look at what is being done and planned there in the Central Russian regions. We will gradually increase gasification in the central portion of Russia and in the European portion and the Far East. There Gazprom has already begun production on Sakhalin and in Siberia. All of this will be used not just for exports, but for gasification as well."
"There is also the plan to unite the gas transportation systems of Western Siberia, that go to the European portion with production assets in the East. Then it will in generally be comfortable and a lot simpler to carry out gasification in the Far East," he said.
