Roscosmos exports to reach around $1 bln in 2016 - Komarov

TULA. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Roscomos's export proceeds in 2016 will be around $1 billion, the state corporation's chief Igor Komarov said.

"This year our export proceeds will soar to around $1 billion," Komarov said at a Thursday meeting held by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which focused on the use of the national defense ministry's potential in the manufacturing of high-tech civil products.

Non-core products account for around 10% of Roscosmos' output so the state corporation is aware of the need to diversify production, he said. To that end, it is planning to increase the share of civil products, grow exports and raise efficiency. The state corporation is also working hard to commercialize its services, the corporation chief said.

"Over the next seven to eight years, we are proposing to increase this share to 20%," he said of the development of non-core products.

These include gas-pumping units, magnetic suspension systems and other equipment for the gas industry, Komarov said.

For the medical industry, the company set up production of prosthetic and orthotic devices, X-ray equipment and products for the newborn, he said.
